Things to Consider When Choosing a Flogger

Floggers can provide different sensations depending on the material they're made from. Knowing how to safely use a flogger with your partner is crucial. These 5 steps can help you choose the perfect flogger for you!

Before we begin, it's helpful to outline some basic whipping rules. If you're new to using a flogger, it's important to have a general understanding of how to avoid hurting someone. If you're a beginner, it's best to use the flogger on the buttocks or back. It's crucial to avoid the kidney area and spine. To provide extra protection against accidental injuries, it's advisable to protect the kidney and tailbone area with thick clothing or a thick blanket, pillow, or similar item. It's important to start with small, light strokes until you're confident in your aim. Don't overestimate your abilities. Carelessness can seriously harm your partner. While using a flogger can be fun and erotic, remember that it also carries risks.

Always use a safe word. This is a word that, if spoken, will instantly halt all activity. It allows both sides to act freely without worrying about miscommunication. It should be a word that won't be regularly spoken during play. Words like "red," "elephant," or "table" are good choices. It should be something unusual that will make both sides pause, and it should be easy to understand. An overly complex word should be avoided.

Now that we have some general security information, we can decide which flogger to choose. Which flogger is ideal for beginners? What equipment is most suitable? What is best for you and your partner?

There are many things to consider when choosing a flogger, but don't let that overwhelm you. Follow these 5 steps to choose the right flogger for you. You'll have a better understanding of what you want and need from your first flogger purchase.

Step 1: Choose a color.

You may not realize it, but your flogger's color choices determine a lot about which options will be available to you. If you want something more fun, like light pink or blue, you might need to spend a little more time. Finding an option other than the low-quality products sold in sex shops, especially in our country, will be difficult. In this case, a handmade option, made to your specifications, that completely reflects you and exactly what you want, will lead you to handmade products.

Step 2: Set your budget.

Floggers are available in a wide price range. You can spend hundreds of lira on a professional, high-quality flogger. You can even have a custom flogger made to fit your budget. For starters, you can find products in the 50-100 TL price range. If budget is a significant factor, you should decide how much you want to spend before you start shopping.

Step 3: Understand the Basic Concepts of Flogger Materials.

Different materials and fabrics will provide different sensations. Of course, there are floggers that fall outside this guide. The stronger the material, the more intense the sensation it provides. The lighter a flogger, the more noticeable and painful it will be. Heavier floggers, made with heavier materials, tend to provide more than just a "massage" sensation. In our country, it is quite difficult to find genuine leather or suede floggers. Floggers made with these materials give a kind of massage sensation. Among our entirely handmade products that you will find in our store, paracord floggers are the closest to this material. We also have flogger options made with jute as a heavier material. Floggers consist of different numbers of fringes. As the number of fringes increases, the area it touches on the body and its weight also increase, thus having a greater effect.

If possible, trying the flogger in person can really help with empathy. You can try to understand the feeling by gently tapping your thigh. DO NOT tap your wrist or forearm. You are likely to injure yourself or the nerves in your arm.

Step 4: Learn how to store and maintain your flogger.

You should know how and where to store your flogger. If you only plan to keep it in a drawer, we recommend buying a cheaper flogger. Floggers should be stored hanging, with the fringes straight if possible. Otherwise, the fringes/tassels may wrinkle and lose their shape. For this reason, floggers are usually manufactured with a hanging loop or attachment.

Flogger care is another matter. Leather-type materials will require different care than cheaper floggers. To prevent leather products from cracking over time, they should be polished and always stored by hanging.

Our handmade floggers, crafted from jute, cotton, and paracord, are easier and simpler to care for compared to leather-based products. They can also be stored anywhere in a resealable bag; there's no need to hang them up. We recommend using resealable bags to prevent ambient odors from contaminating the flogger and to protect it from moisture and environmental factors. You can even spray or leave a fragrance inside the resealable bag to create a pleasant ambiance for your next use. For hygiene, you can store them in a resealable bag in the freezer or in direct UV (sunlight) light.

Step 5: Consider whether or not to share your flogger.

If this is just a flogger for you and your partner, skip this step. If there's a possibility you'll be using it with different partners, continue reading. In that case, the material will be important. Fabric-like materials can be difficult to sterilize. You might consider a silicone flogger as it's simpler to sterilize. However, keep in mind that silicone floggers have a more intense sensation than fabric floggers. Leather floggers are also relatively easier to sterilize.
